England

Pheasants hanging in the doorway of a Butchers in Woodstock.
Before I forget what I did, here are some photos of England from when I returned from Italy. I had 3 weeks to fill in before I had to work in Oxford for a week. I went to Canterbury for a few nights and visited the white cliffs of Dover and Whitstable while I was in the area. I also met Elise in Norfolk and we visited the Norfolk Broads and travelled around the Norfolk coast. I spent a few nights in Norwich (the capital of Norfolk), before I travelled back to London, spent another 4 days there, before travelling to Oxford and spending a few days touring around before starting work. While I was in London I went to Billy Elliot, the musical. It was brilliant! I would highly recommend everyone goes and sees it (it's now touring Australia, for those of you who can't get to London to see it).

This Picture was taken at 4:30 in the afternoon. As you can see, it looks like it's midnight. Canterbury was a lovely town though, with a really nice atmosphere, and I have to say that after staying at the hostel there, I have started to change my opinion of hostels as it was the best I have stayed at during my travels. The decorations in the street really added to the Christmas Spirit. The Coloured Beach Huts at Whitstable
Whitstable was a lovely seaside village

Canterbury Cathedral

No trip to Canterbury is complete without visiting the Cathedral

Sorry Vera, but the birds over the White Cliffs of Dover were actually black.

Cley was a charming seaside village

The Garden at Exeter College in Oxford. Those of you who have seen the movie The Golden Compass starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig may recognise the view.

The Radcliffe Camera and Church of Saint Mary the Virgin.

Another familiar scene for fans of the Harry Potter films: The Divinity School was where the Dancing Lesson scenes were filmed.

Blenheim Palace, in nearby town Woodstock, was where Sir Winston Churchill was born.

Another familiar scene for viewers of The Golden Compass (or any number of films/tv shows filmed in Oxford); Tom Tower and Tom Quad at Christ Church College.

The room that I stayed in while working in Oxford had a red light fitting!

Busy Oxford Street, London, the day before I left to come home.

So now I'm back home in Launceston, after surprising everyone by coming the week before Christmas (3 weeks before I was due to arrive home). I had a lovely Christmas and New Year's at home, and plan on being here for another month or so, before heading back overseas sometime in March.
